Worked with DP Alex Disenhof (The We and The I) and director Cutter Hodierne on Fishing Without Nets. The story itself takes a smart, alternate view of its topic, Somali pirates (and maybe also the action film genre) and the aesthetic of the film reflects that. The goal was to find a look for the film which had exceptionally high production value while at the same time keeping things feeling profoundly real, and not venturing into Hollywood studio territory.
Fishing Without Nets premiered in competition at Sundance 2014 and won for Best Director, and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.
